Information on the registration process of potential suppliers and the certification of manufacturers

Israel Electric is interested in introducing new companies to its supplier list to increase its options for equipment acquisition.

The Supplier Certification Unit is the interface between suppliers and/or manufacturers and the IEC, and its aim is to expand the IEC potential supplier list and supplier certification for closed tenders, in certain fields, subject to the Mandatory Tenders Law, its regulations, and GATT.

The Supplier Certification Unit enables companies unknown to the IEC to undergo a registration process as potential suppliers, or to undergo a similar process when dealing with manufacturers of highly complex technical equipment with unusual attributes, which are purchased through closed tenders.

To register for the potential supplier list, the attached questionnaire must be filled out and sent to tal_c@iec.co.il together with the company profile and a sample invoice.

For Israeli companies, it is customary for the IEC to visit the company's facilities to examine the proposed equipment.

During the certification process that takes place when complex technical equipment is purchased by closed tenders, the IEC will examine the manufacturer's abilities in the following fields:

  •  Technical competence
  •  Financial strength
  • Quality control procedures and certification

Pursuant to the certification results, the supplier will be entitled to participate in a closed tender, or not.

Manufacturers previously certified must undergo the certification process every five years (except for the company's financial strength, which takes place before every closed tender), as a condition to participate in closed tenders.

The subjects that are examined in the manufacturer's certification process are as follows:

  • Financial statements for the last three years
  •  Quality control manual
  •  List of customers with relevant equipment installation
  •  List of recommendations
  •  Technical catalogue
